Program Notes

Inspired by real events, this fun, warmhearted film for the whole family follows Billy, a 10-year-old boy from a wintry mountain town, and his misfit friends. When a discovery in the snow catapults these small-town boys into the spotlight, they become instant celebrities. But when their star fades, Billy is convinced that he needs to be famous for something. So the outcasts hatch a scheme to set a Guinness World Record, ensuring their names will never be forgotten, but what record to break…? Through a comedic series of stunts that eventually threaten their very lives, the trio conquers schoolyard bullies, unites their community, and discovers that while fame may be fleeting, true friendship lasts forever.

Memorable snow-blanketed landscapes, a charming story, and a flawless cast that includes young actors Bobby Coleman (Martian Child), Bobb'e J. Thompson (Role Models), and Josh Flitter as well as Ray Liotta and Christopher Lloyd make Snowmen an instant family classic.

Bobby Coleman
I am really looking forward to Bobby Coleman's performance in this movie. After seeing him in "Martian Child" and just recently "The Last Song" I know that he will blow the audiences away with his performance. AND... Christopher Lloyd! It will be fantastic!!

Bobby Coleman
I just saw The Last Song. Bobby Coleman plays Mily Cyrus' little brother. He has all the best lines in the movie. Can't wait to see Snowman! Yea Bobby! And I know Bobby J from his show on CN. He's hilarious.

I liked the film, but think it has a tough road ahead in its marketing. It focuses on a group of elementary school students, yet it's emotional impact can only be handled by junior high students and older. Our 8-year-old cried during large chunks of it yesterday; our 10-year-old was sad, but could take it all better. Perhaps some foreshadowing that it's not all dark could be added in. As an adult, I really did like it. But it's a bit much for younger kids.

Snowmen has compelling themes
Snowmen had fine performances from all of the actors - veteran and young. I thought the film enabled discussion of tough subjects with young and older children and is needed today. I find much of today's cinema that targets children inane. The messages are dramatic and comedic. My 8 year old and 3 year old both watched and left feeling very moved by what they saw.

The Tribeca film festival was the first time I saw Snowmen on a big screen and it made such a difference. I loved the film, and although I have seen it before, it was still just as powerful. It has a great message and the acting is amazing. Congrats! I love it and can't wait for it to come out in theaters!

Liotta was great. Kids were great. What has this director done before. If he's first time -- VERY impressive. Beautifully shot too.

Loved, loved this movie, has it all, emotion, a wonderful life message, and presented for all to understand and appreciate. I would recommend this for ages 8 and up,I cried and laughed and I'm much older than 8 but you have to judge your childs ability to handle the subjet of a sick child. This movie stimulates great discussions about bullies, illness, friendship and LIFE!
