Program Notes

When a military effort to tackle a British-born Ukrainian arms dealer ends catastrophically, Black Ops soldier Malcolm Gray lands in a military hospital to overcome the torture he was subjected to. After nearly a year, Gray returns to Brooklyn and moves into a rundown apartment to reflect on the inconsistencies of the botched assignment. But Gray soon gets caught up in another impossible mission: to expose the corruption of a high-powered senator on the verge of announcing his presidential campaign. …A senator who also happens to be his brother.

A riveting performance from Idris Elba (Obsessed, The Wire) fuels this bold and ambitious political thriller, hinged on Gray's crumbling and claustrophobic mental state. Rife with tension and suspense, Legacy—emerging talent Thomas Ikimi's follow-up to his highly acclaimed low-budget pic Limbo (2004)—is a powerful chamber drama fortified with impressive cinematography and sound design that bring to vivid life a constricting web of conspiracy.

This film rocks!
I was lucky enough to see the film at it's Gala Premiere at the Glasgow Film Festival. Idris is astounding. His performance is out of this world. Combined with a tight script from Thomas Ikimi this film is a taut, psychological thriller. Can't recommend it enough.

Coincidence or what?
Interesting how the two most flattering reviews of this film on IMDB (by users called Reach Beyond and Excalibur) are by reviewers who have reviewed just three films between them in five years. Two of them directed by Thomas Ikimi. Even more interesting is how "Tom Walsh" and "Joe Gibson" repeat those IMDB reviews word for word. Can we have a bit of honesty on this board please?

RE: Coincidence or what
It's customary for people involved with or supporting filmmakers to review their work on IMDB and aroudn the net. Many of them will copy and paste their thoughts because they want others to see the project they believe in or support a filmmaker they believe in. You neglect to comment on the other reviews on the page that were equally supportive of the project. I suggest you google for articles on the film and other reviews that have come up and been posted on the film's facebook and twitter. It is very easy to focus on supporter reviews when that is what you are looking for. Highlighting two IMDB posters here is as manipulative as the actions you have an issue with.

IMDB review?
I've repeated them word for word? just looked at them and they're slightly more verbose than what I have written. And, honestly, I really enjoyed it. FYI I didn't write any of them.

Amazing! Great film making by Thomas Ikimi. An extraordinary viewing experience one can only hope for at any film festival. Idris Elba's performance was brilliant. The cinematographer, "Jonathan Harvey" helped to make this a powerful "Political Thriller" shot, for the most part, in one room.
