Ned (Liev Schreiber) is having a hard time at home. The arrival of his sick father-in-law (Brian Dennehy) is straining his marriage to Jeannie (Helen Hunt), and he's still getting used to raising an independent teenager (Ezra Miller, TFF '09 Audience Award Winner City Island). He's having a hard time at work too. His job writing for a scandalous TV show headed by a shock-obsessed producer (Eddie Izzard) is unfulfilling, and late-night rewrites with a sexy coworker (Carla Gugino) are only complicating matters….

He treats his characters with a gentle hand, drawing them with vulnerabilities that such fine actors can make sing. The ensemble cast brings a familial genuineness to their roles. Schreiber and Hunt unpack Ned and Jeannie's conflicted relationship with a natural ease. Every Day is a relatable modern family story that shows the ups and downs of family life, but that there's always another day.

Richard Levine was a writer, director, and executive producer of the Golden Globe-winning TV series Nip/Tuck. Currently, he is the creator and executive producer of the ABC series Scoundrels, starring Virginia Madsen and airing in June. Every Day is his feature film debut.

The film Every Day is, at its heart, a movie celebrating the journey of what it is to be a family. Though not strictly autobiographical, it nonetheless allowed me to explore various themes and dynamics that I found myself dealing with during one particular time of my life. I knew I wasn't the only one navigating the complexities of married life and the challenges of raising kids—but having a gay teenager was an altogether different kind of challenge that took me by surprise. Add to that the additional pressure of caring for a parent you've never been close to and its impact on your home life and relationships and suddenly the challenges quadruple. It was a period of time ripe for dramatization. A comedy and a drama rolled into one. Like life.

Every Day is in some ways a love letter to my own family, a testament to our humor, love and strength; but it also attempts to take an honest look at just how difficult and fragile that road can be, and the small but defining choices confronting us every day—choices that can bring you closer together or pull you apart.
