Synopsis

What happens when the breakup happens, but the break does not? 'Boy' is forced to come to terms with the fact that 'Girl' no longer wants him around. The only problem is, he just can't seem to leave their once-shared apartment. Girl decides to keep living her life around him while he remains. In time, each decides to go in distinctly different directions. Or do they?

About The Director(s)

Maggie Kiley was one of eight women selected out of hundreds to take part in AFI's Directing Workshop for Women. Her second film, some boys don't leave, was made as a result. Director Statement

I knew I wanted to tell a story that would stick around. Something that we can relate to on many different levels. For me, some boys don't leave isn't just about the breakup. But more about the time or times in our life when we find ourselves stuck and unable to move forward, up, down, in or out. Sometimes the strength we need in these moments can only come from within—despite the efforts of those closest to us. What's been fun is finding that there are often questions after a viewing about who is or isn't there and what actually happens in the final moment. I leave it to the individual. I like a story that is told from the inside out—one that resonates and leaves you with a question or two.
