Synopsis

This playful drama follows a young couple from the excitement and commotion of their wedding send-off to the stillest hours of the night. Told with warmth and candor, David Shuff's Alone at Last is an intimate portrait of a less-than-perfect relationship.

+Director Statement

In Alone at Last I've tried to portray an openhearted honesty and subtlety that I felt I didn't see enough of in short films. I've aimed to create realistic situations and human characters that resonate and engage without having to be larger than life. My cast took a lot of risks and truly opened themselves to this idea. Consequently, creating this film has been a richly rewarding experience. I can't thank them enough for their trust. With this film I've also attempted to make the best use of all that makes the short film format so exciting to me. Instead of a short that's trying to be what it's not, I've created an intimate 10-minute slice-of-life vignette portraying a particularly dynamic evening in the lives of two young people. It's a simple story that could only be told in the short form.
