Program Notes
An eccentric New Yorker played by Larry David abandons his upper-class life to lead a more bohemian existence. He meets a young girl from the South and her family, and no two people seem to get along in the entanglements that follow. This comedy from legendary writer/director Woody Allen also stars Ed Begley Jr., Patricia Clarkson, Conleth Hill, Michael McKean, and Evan Rachel Wood. Across five decades, Woody Allen's films have been synonymous with New York. After four films shot in Europe, including the Academy Award®-winning Vicky Cristina Barcelona, he returned to his hometown for Whatever Works. Says Allen, "It was great to be back in Manhattan shooting a comedy and especially with such a gifted cast. I'm very lucky."
