Awkward 11-year-old, Nesma, is at odds with the world around her since she began caring for her father’s pigeons after his death. Already facing pressure from her mother to get rid of the birds and continuing a bitter rivalry with the boy across the street, today Nesma will face an even bigger challenge as she enters womanhood.

About the Director(s)
Najwan Ali was born in 1989 in Iraq. She is a graduate of the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad, Department of Audio and Visual. Najwan worked as part of the Iraqi 35mm short film workshops, writing and directing her latest film, Nesma’s Birds, co-directed by Medoo Ali. Her other directorial credits are Critical Days and Book of Love. Medoo Ali was born in 1991 and studied at the Center of Fine Arts in Baghdad. Medoo directed his first short film, Children of War, as well as co-directed Nesma’s Birds, as part of a workshop through the Iraqi Independent Film Center.
When tickets for a screening or event are no longer available, they will be listed as RUSH. The Rush system functions as a stand-by line that will form at the venue approximately 45 minutes prior to scheduled start time. Admittance is based on availability and will begin 15 minutes prior to program start time. Rush Tickets are the same price as advance tickets payable upon entry. There is a limit of one Rush Ticket per person.
