We Won a Webby!
We know it's an honor just to be nominated, but it's even better to win.
It's a bit of a post-Festival pick-me-up, which is just what the doctor ordered: We've received word that TribecaFilm.com was named Best Website: Events in the 15th Annual Webby Awards!
The Webbys are the Oscars of the Internet, and the victory is just as sweet. This year's Awards competition drew almost 10K entries from all 50 states and over 60 countries around the world, so we were up against some pretty stiff competition. Competing websites were judged on "content, structure and navigation, visual design, functionality, interactivity and overall experience."
Who are the judges? From the Webby Awards Fact Sheet:
"Winners are chosen by the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences, a global organization whose members include director Darren Aronofsky, Martha Stewart, Huffington Post Media Group President Arianna Huffington, Twitter Co-Founder Biz Stone, musician David Bowie, and Internet co-creator Vint Cerf, Virgin Group Chairman Richard Branson, and R/GA Chairman and CEO Bob Greenberg." Pretty nifty group, huh?
We hope you'll watch us give our 5-word acceptance speech (short and sweet!) at this year's Webby Awards, which will be broadcast live online on Monday, June 13, 8:30 pm ET:
"The Webby Awards will be broadcast live to a global audience through a new partnership with MLB Advanced Media (MLBAM), the interactive division of Major League Baseball. In addition to social media and multiple stream integrations, viewers will have the ability to share in-progress highlights, interact on multiple screens using custom developed mobile phone and tablet apps, and experience a tricked-out video stream that provides not just a front row seat to the ceremony, but also the ability to participate and shape the event as it unfolds."![]()
For details about the live stream, follow the Webby Awards on Twitter or Facebook.
Congratulations to ALL the winners! We're delighted to be in your company.
While we're talking about accolades, we'd like to take this chance to thank the many readers who make up the growing Tribeca community. Whether on Facebook, on Twitter, at the Festival, or right here at TribecaFilm.com, we treasure your participation. See you online!
