How-To: Watch TFF Films Online
Tags: Tribeca Online Film Festival  Streaming Room Starting April 12, the Tribeca (Online) Film Festival’s Streaming Room will officially open its virtual doors to the American public. This means everyone from New York City to California can take their pick of select Tribeca Film Festival titles to watch from the comfort of their own home, all for free!
Okay, okay—I know we’re all excited. But first, here are a few things you’ll need to know about reserving your virtual seat.

Details are below, but here are 5 easy steps:
1. Make sure you are eligible to make a reservation today (April 12 for American Express cardmembers, April 17 for downtown residents, April 18 for all U.S. residents).
2. Make sure you have a My Tribeca account, and are logged in.
3. Make a reservation for a 24-hour screening window.
4. On the day of your reservation, log in within the first 12 hours of availability.
5. Watch your movie anytime within those 24 hours.
Who can make a reservation?
Reservations start April 12 for American Express® cardmembers, and April 17 for downtown Manhattan residents. Reservations will be available to everyone in the US on April 18.
Between April 12 and April 16, visitors will need to enter in a valid American Express card number above the schedule box to make reservations. On April 17, visitors will need to enter in a valid downtown Manhattan zip code to make reservations.
Beginning April 18, anyone will be able to make reservations. That means you, cinephile out in Oregon! And you, film-lover in North Dakota! Literally anyone within the United States can watch films in the Tribeca (Online) Film Festival, but you have to make a reservation first.
Great! So how do I make a reservation?
Visit Tribeca (Online)’s Streaming Room to find a full list of films that can be viewed online on our ‘lobby’ page. Browse to a film’s Streaming Room page to see a full schedule of Online screenings.
To make a reservation, simply click on the ‘Reserve a seat’ button under the screening window you’d like to reserve a ‘virtual seat’ for. If you’re already logged in to your My Tribeca account, a seat will be reserved and the schedule box will show ‘Seat Reserved’ for that screening.
If you’re not logged in to your My Tribeca account, a login box will pop up and prompt you for your username and password. If you do not have a My Tribeca account, simply click on ‘Register’, where you’ll be taken to our account creation page. All you’ll need is your e-mail address, desired password and zip code. Once you’ve created your account, close the registration window and login to your new account.
After logging in, a seat will be reserved and the schedule box will show ‘Seat Reserved’ for that screening.
And what does this reservation mean?
Reservations are for one 24-hour film-screening window. With a reservation, you can watch the film anytime within that 24-hour window. Each film has scheduled screening windows listed on its Streaming Room and Film Guide page.
Please note: Reservations do not guarantee a ‘virtual seat.’ In order to ensure that reservations are used, reservation holders will need to check in to their screening within the first 12 hours of the screening window to guarantee their ‘virtual seat’ for this screening.
How many movies can I reserve a ‘virtual seat’ for?
You can make reservations for as many screenings as you’d like, but only one reservation per screening.
How do I watch the films that I have reserved a seat for?
You’ll receive a reminder e-mail at the start of each of your reserved screening windows with a handy link straight to the film.
Come back to the film’s Streaming Room page anytime during your reserved screening window and log in to start watching the film. You can even watch films on your iPad! Remember, though, to check in to your screenings within the first 12 hours; otherwise, you will risk losing your seat!
To check in and watch the films that you reserved a seat for, reservation holders simply have to login during the first 12 hours of the screening window and confirm their reservation; the film need not be watched until later in the screening window. Any reservations not claimed within the first 12 hours of a screening window will be released to the public.
We really hope this will help you figure out just how easy it is to watch Tribeca Film Festival titles without being present in New York City. Reserve your virtual seat before it’s too late—these guys will get snatched up quick!
