Looking for photos? Check out TribecaFilm's Photo Gallery, featuring photos from the Vanity Fair Party and the Whatever Works Gala Premiere!
Woody Allen's Whatever Works premiered last night to a flurry of flashbulbs and press. Hollywood Elsewhere's Jeffrey Wells was on the scene. indieWIRE and cranky (and wrong) Lou Lemnick from the New York Post have mixed reviews. Ben Walters from The Guardian has a thoughtful piece on the film's laugh quotient and how star Larry David works in Woody Allen's New York, and those youth-meisters over at MTV Movies have a video interview with Evan Rachel Wood and Henry Cavill. Filmmaker Magazine has a review, too.
Kirby Dick's Outrage is already making SPOILER-filled headlines. (Obviously, if you want to "be surprised" about the politicians and newsmakers who are outed in the film, don't click on these links, although it's not as if the likes of Gawker haven't been alluding to these kind of things for awhile.) Variety's "Wildshire and Washington" blog has a considered review of the film, indieWIRE does as well, along with another one by documentary film blogger AJ Schnack.
Tribeca is this week's Cinematical list: "Seven Tribeca Films We're Looking Forward To," including Michael Cuesta's creepy, filmed-in-Providence Tell Tale. Plus: clips from Black Dynamite! The snarksters at that phoenix of a brand, the revitalized online Movieline, have "6 Films Worth the Hassle."
Want more reason to check out the Shorts Program? Go online to New York Magazine, were they have exclusive looks (including video) of Home, Love Does Grow on Trees, 3 Wheels, The Bather, and Team Taliban.
The Auteur's Notebook reviews World Narrative Feature Competitor, Iran's About Elly.
indieWIRE has another director interview with Entre nos' Gloria La Morte.
Hammer to Nail reviews The Exploding Girl. Plus: check out what director Bradley Rust Gray has to say about it on his site!
One of our favorite sites, Scouting NY, notes that the Empire State Building will be green tonight. Why? Because it's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (for free!) at the Drive-In tonight, that's why!
