Advance Ticket Packages

Ticket Packages for 2009 TFF

Advance ticket packages
are now on sale. Tribeca Film Festival audience members have three options in 2009: Select ten films with the Harrison Ticket Package ($225.00), choose twenty films with the Franklin Ticket Package ($425.00), or let the experienced Festival programmers decide for you!

Tribeca sat down with TFF Executive Director Nancy Schafer to talk about this year's exciting choices.

Tribeca: Nancy, please tell us about the new options this year for the TFF audience.

Nancy Schafer: We’ve got three advance ticket packages on sale now, and one of them, the Programmers’ Picks, is new to Tribeca this year.

One of the things about any film festival is that the majority of films are new to the filmgoing audience, and that makes it harder to navigate which films interest them. With the Programmers’ Picks package, all you do is fill out a basic questionnaire online, including some really easy questions about your schedule availability and your film preferences: Do you like international cinema? Documentaries? American star-driven dramas? These questions will help us make appropriate choices—based on your answers, the programming team will then pick six films that they believe you will like.

It's an exciting new way to let us put together a package for you.

Tribeca: What about those of us who like to navigate the Film Guide?

NS:
The other packages on sale now are the Harrison package and the Franklin package, both of which offer ticket bundles for people who want to make sure they can get the majority of their first choices for tickets.

The way it works is that you buy the package now—for either ten or twenty tickets—and then use the online Film Guide to peruse the entire slate and choose films you want to see. On March 30, the screening schedule will be finalized, and you can start plotting your Festival. Between April 6 and 10—before single tickets and other packages go on sale—you get to handpick the screenings that work best for you. Advance packages allow the package buyer to get tickets before tickets are available to the general public.

For the filmgoers who know what they want—and who want to make sure they can get it—these are the ideal packages to buy.

Tribeca: We can't wait to read about this year's films!

NS:
The Film Guide just went live. Check it out at TribecaFilm.com/FilmGuide, where you can learn about the entire slate!

Bring back the daytime pass
The whole fun of festival going is the joy of wandering into a film and being blown away. Myself, and the multitudes of other film lovers (particularly the un or under-employed) miss the passes where you could just spend the day at the festival with no advance planning. Not to mention it was the only real bargin around for film-lovers. $25/film and no option to move on if it sucks. Not in these economic times. No doubt the filmmakers miss us. I know that when I was a pass-holder I saw the same faces at all sorts of less popular films. Those films are a rough sell now.
