2010 Tribeca Film Festival Award Winners
The award winners for the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival have been announced! We have the results: top winners include When We Leave (Die Fremde), Monica & David, Dog Pound and The Arbor.
The winners of the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival's competition categories were announced tonight at W Union Square in New York City. The top awards went to When We Leave (Die Fremde), Monica & David, Dog Pound and The Arbor. Additional awards were handed out for the best Short Films (narrative, documentary, and student visionary) and Best New York films. Acting awards and several Special Jury Mentions were also announced. And for the first time, online viewers voted for the best Tribeca Film Festival Virtual films, including Best Feature and Best Short.
“Tribeca is a place of discovery, and I am enormously proud of the new voices that have emerged this year at the Festival,” said Festival co-founder Jane Rosenthal. “This has been a year of expanding our horizons in terms of the audiences and reach of the Festival, but it is also has been a year when that enlarged platform has been enjoyed by many remarkable films.”
“Our jurors have dedicated themselves to the task of carefully considering the diverse films that were part of this year’s competition at the Festival,” said Nancy Schafer, Executive Director of the Festival. “We are grateful for their hard work and salute their choices along with the rest of our 2010 filmmakers.”
Screenings of all winning films will take place at Village East Cinemas on Sunday, May 2. Specific times and ticketing information are available on the Festival website.
In addition to cash awards and in-kind services provided by sponsors, including American Express, Delta Air Lines and Kodak, the Festival presented the winners with original pieces of art created by seven acclaimed artists, including Yoko Ono and Clifford Ross, via the Tribeca Film Festival Art Awards, sponsored by CHANEL.
