TKA Reporter's' Blog: Nice Guy Johnny

The worldwide red carpet premier of “Nice Guy Johnny” written and directed by Edward Burns was the first event I got to go to in the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival, and it was a blast! The two kid reporters that covered the event were Truman and I, and though both of us had been to a red carpet event before, we were pretty nervous. Nervous-excited though, because being on the red carpet with a mic and a press badge has to be the most thrilling thing I can remember doing.
We went over our questions while waiting for the arrivals to begin, and came up with a catchy though rather cheesy ending question to slyly ask the males (including Truman in our opening): “So, are you a nice guy?” I felt really silly asking it, but hey, it was fun! We interviewed a lot of people, including jury members Andrew McCarthy and Perry Miller Adato, along with several cast members such as Anna Wood, Matt Bush, Kerry Bishe, and Edward Burns – who did direct and write “Nice Guy Johnny” as well. We even got to talk to the brains behind the TFF himself, Robert De Niro!
All of the cast members said that working with Ed was a great time, as he was a super fun guy and really seemed to understand where everyone was coming from, not to mention his fabulous hamburgers and pizza! All of them were really nice, which made the experience one of the best in my life! I can’t wait for my next assignment as a kid reporter for Tribeca Kids Access!

Hey! Yesterday Margaret and I went to the world premiere of Edward Burn’s new movie, “Nice Guy Johnny”. This was also one of the movies in the Tribeca Film Festival Virtual Festival. That means that anybody can go to the film festival’s website and watch on their computer. It’s the first year that the Tribeca Film Festival is doing this.
Anyway, going to the red carpet of “Nice Guy Johnny” was especially fun. It was my first red carpet this year, and it brought back lots of good memories. We interviewed almost everyone in the movie. We stood in almost the exact same spot as last year at the premiere of Spike Lee’s “Kobe Doin’ Work” and I got to interview super-star Robert De Niro… just like last year! He was looking at me kinda’ funny! I think remembered me! Also, I noticed everyone in the movie seemed to have had lots of fun filming with Ed Burns. He was very nice when we interviewed him. His wife, Christy Turlington, is a former supermodel and they both live in Tribeca. I see them sometimes in a store or in the park. Maybe next time he’ll say hi.
