Doha TFF at TFF
Doha Tribeca Film Festival (DTFF) is the proud cultural partner of the Tribeca Film Festival. Since its launch last October, DTFF is rapidly becoming an important cultural event in the Middle East, showcasing the best of international film with a special focus on the Arab world. In its second year, DTFF expands with year-round educational programs and continues to promote regional voices to tell their unique stories.
DTFF is thrilled to invite New York audiences to celebrate a series of co-hosted events, featured on this page.
DTFF began as a vision of Qatar's Sheikha Mayassa Al Thani, and with its Tribeca partners has become much more, sharing the values of community, culture, education—and always—entertainment.

Just Like Us & Comedy Night
Egyptian-American comedian Ahmed Ahmed’s debut documentary, Just Like Us, reveals the backstage anxiety and nerves of being on the road with one of the first comedy shows in the Arab world–busting open cultural taboos in each city they visit. The comics willfully walk the line with jokes about Islam, life in the west and other daring antics.
Following the ticketed screening on Saturday, April 24, at 6:00 pm, DTFF will be hosting a special night of stand-up comedy with Ahmed and guests.

FPS: The Two Escobars
Tribeca Film Festival and Doha TFF will host a FREE Fabulous Picture Show screening of The Two Escobars, a daring documentary that investigates the secret marriage of crime and sport in Colombia. American directors Jeff & Michael Zimbalist reveal the surprising connections between the violent deaths of soccer icon Andrés Escobar and drug baron Pablo Escobar.
Meet the directing duo as they join FPS for an intimate screening and Q&A moderated by Doha TFF executive director, Amanda Palmer.

Shrek Forever After
Doha TFF will host a family-friendly gala screening of Shrek Forever After, where invited guests will enjoy an evening full of family activities on the “green” carpet.
DTFF held a story competition in Doha, which was won by a 14-year old Qatari girl, AlDana Mohamed al-Dosari. AlDana and her family will be heading to New York to enjoy opening night along with other TFF events!

After the Movie: Budrus
Budrus reveals how, in one of the most contested parts of the world, a Palestinian family man unites rival parties Fatah and Hamas, Western activists, and even groups of progressive Israelis in a nonviolent movement to save his village from being destroyed.
Following the ticketed screening on Sunday, April 25, at 3:00 pm, the audience will enjoy a conversation with director/producer Julia Bacha, producers Ronit Avni and Rula Salameh, Israeli activist Einat Podjarny, and Ayed Morrar and Iltezam Morrar, the Palestinian father and daughter community organizers at the heart of the film. Moderated by Doha Tribeca Film Festival executive director Amanda Palmer.
