2. Plein Sud

The Smyth Hotel, 85 West Broadway at Chambers St (212-204-5555, pleinsudnyc.com) Top Chef finalist Ed Cotton's menu features updated bistro classics such as steak frites and coq au vin, and the airy, contemporary dining room takes design cues from Provence.

3. Tribeca Treats

94 Reade St between Church St and West Broadway (212-571-0500, tribecatreats.com) Those with a sweet tooth frequent former investment banker Rachel Thebault's chic shop for cupcakes, brownies, ice-cream sandwiches, and cakes for kids and adults (try the piña colada cake).

4. Terroir Tribeca

24 Harrison St between Greenwich and Hudson Sts (212-625-9463, wineisterroir.com) The larger spin-off of the cult East Village wine bar offers delectable gourmet nibbles- risotto balls, artisan cheeses and charcuterie- alongside more than 100 wines.

5. Corton

239 West Broadway between Walker and White Sts (212-219-2777, cortonnyc.com) The presentation is as exquisite as the food at Paul Liebrandt's contemporary fine-dining temple.

6. Locande Verde

377 Greenwich St between Franklin and North Moore Sts (212-925-3797, locandaverdenyc.com) The family-style portions are big and so are the flavors in this lively taverna helmed by Andrew Carmellini—but don't skip the divine dolces.

8. Bouley

163 Duane St at Hudson St (212-964-2525, davidbouley.com) A recent renovation refreshed the opulent decor, and David Bouley's cuisine still dazzles.

9. Tribeca Grill

375 Greenwich St at Franklin St (212-941-3900, myriadrestaurantgroup.com) Carved out of the Martinson Coffee factory, the quintessential Tribeca restaurant features exposed brick and the bar from iconic singles spot Maxwell's Plum.

10. Merchants River House

375 South End Ave. - Bet. Liberty & Albany Sts. (212-432-1451, merchantsriverhouse.com) American Bistro on the Hudson River Esplanade. Executive Chef Wade Burch, C.E.C., recent winner of the "Chopped" competition, is Offering a $30 three course prix-fixe dinner. Choice of selected appetizer, entree, dessert starting at 5pm April 20th - May 1st.

11. BREAD Tribeca

301 Church St on the corner of Walker St (212-334-0200, breadtribeca.com) StarChef.com founder and film director Bob Giraldi opened this casual NY Italian restaurant to a two-star NYTimes rating. Favorites include inventive specials and a healthy cleanse menu. Huge window light, outdoor cafe and great music--serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and happy hour.

12. Gigino Trattoria

323 Greenwich St bet. Duane & Reade (212-431-1112, www.gigino-trattoria.com) Gigino has been a neighborhood fixture since 1992. Owned by film director Bob Giraldi and partner Phil Suarez where Giraldi filmed the movie DINNER RUSH in 2001. Featuring authentic fare from the Amalfi Coast of Italy; the aroma from the wood-burning oven is always present.

5. Steven Alan Annex

7. Shibui Spa

The Greenwich Hotel, 377 Greenwich St between Franklin and North Moore Sts (646-203-0045, thegreenwichhotel.com) Soak in a Japanese-style tub before indulging in a restorative body ritual at this subterranean sanctuary.

8. Sweet Lily Natural Nail Spa & Boutique

9. Bu and the Duck

10. Grown & Sewn

1. Cookshop

156 Tenth Ave at 20th St (212-924-4440, cookshopny.com) Chef Marc Meyer wrote the book on brunch (it's actually the title), but his seasonal-ingredientdriven lunch and dinner dishes are delicious too.

2. Co.

230 Ninth Ave at 24th St (212-243-1105, co-pane.com) As you'd expect from the man behind Sullivan Street Bakery, Jim Lahey's pizza dough is good enough to eat sans sauce, but you won't want to pass up the creative toppings like the ham & cheese, with Gruyere and prosciutto.

3. The Half King

505 W 23rd St between Tenth and Eleventh Aves (212-462-4300, thehalfking.com) Beer lovers and literary types congregate at this unpretentious pub- co-owned by author Sebastian Junger- for local and European microbrews.

30 W 26th St between Broadway and Sixth Ave (212-255-4544, hillcountryny.com) Not only does Hill Country channel the spirit of famous 'cue joint Kreuz Market with its ribs and brisket, it serves sausages from that revered Texas establishment.

5. Tia Pol

205 Tenth Ave between 22nd and 23rd Sts (212-675-8805, tiapol.com) Squeeze into this sliver of a space for excellent takes on Spanish staples such as patatas bravas and gambas al ajillo (shrimp in olive oil with chilies) alongside more unusual dishes.

6. Cafeteria

119 Seventh Ave at 17th St (212-414-1717, cafeteriagroup.com) This Chelsea fixture is open round the clock for haute takes on mac and cheese, meat loaf and burgers.

8. Rickshaw Dumpling Bar

9. Rains Law Room

10. Limelight Marketplace

2. Momofuku Ssam Bar

207 Second Ave at 13th St (212-254-3500, momofuku.com) Sample it in steamed buns and country hams, or if you're with a crowd, visit the website to reserve a bo ssam: an entire hog butt served with a dozen oysters and other accompaniments.

3. Hecho en Dumbo
